Pesto garlic knots are easy to make and full of flavor. They only have a few ingredients and are a great appetizer or compliment to a meal. You can put these together in just a few minutes and everyone will love them!
Bread, pesto and garlic…what’s not to love? This idea came from my summer obsession with pesto. There are just so many ways to use pesto. I put it on pasta, gnocchi, bread, roasted veggies, etc. I grow basil every summer in my little raised bed garden and then make as much pesto as possible and just stick it in the freezer so that we can enjoy it all year long. If you want to know how to make it, click here.
All you need is: a pound of pizza dough (homemade or store bought), pesto (homemade or store bought) minced garlic, butter, parmesan cheese and salt and pepper. You can buy pizza dough in the freezer section or sometimes the bakery section of your grocery store. Or, you can buy the kind that comes in a tube that is usually where the canned biscuits are.
First, heat the oven to 400 and lightly grease a baking sheet. Cut the dough into 12 equal parts, then roll them out into long strips. Tie them into knots.
Melt the butter and mix with minced garlic, grated parmesan cheese, salt and pepper. Brush each knot with lots of this mixture. In fact, if you run out, just make more. Don’t skimp on this because each knot needs to be fully covered in this deliciousness.
Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown. Immediately brush with lots of pesto when they come out of the oven. These are seriously so delicious. They don’t reheat all that well, but I really doubt you will have to worry about leftovers.
