This is my version of those yummy biscuits that they serve at Red Lobster. Copycat recipes can be risky. I’ve tried some that were nothing like what I was going for, and I’ve also tried some that I liked even better than the original. These are absolutely delicious. You can serve them with pretty much anything. They are best straight out of the oven. Just be ready, because they disappear pretty quickly.
You’ll need: 2 c all purpose flour
1 T sugar
1 T baking powder
2 t garlic powder
¼ t cayenne pepper
1 c buttermilk
½ c butter, melted
1 ½ c shredded cheddar cheese
Topping: 3 T butter, melted
½ t garlic powder
½ t parsley
Preheat oven to 450. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, garlic powder, salt and cayenne in a bowl.
In a separate bowl, whisk together melted butter and buttermilk.
Pour over dry ingredients and stir. Fold in cheese.
Scoop batter onto slightly greased baking sheet. If you don’t have a scoop, just use your hands to form balls of dough. I would say about the size of a golf ball (or smaller if you want).
Bake 10-12 minutes. As soon as you take them out of the oven, whisk together the topping ingredients and brush it onto the warm biscuits.
Serve immediately!
